Skiving explanation: CAUTION DURING SKIVING: Fix belt ends on the skiving table with a double sided adhesive tape., It is VERY IMPORTANT to apply acetone on the skived ends (leather lips) after the skiving procedure to support easy removal from the adhesive tape. Leather lips would be destroyed without this cautionary procedure !!
Application of Adhesives
Step 1
> Mark off leather (friction cover) and polyamide area (traction layer) with fine straight lines running parallel to the cutting edge (ball point pen or pencil).
> Add total quantity of component B to component A of the Polycol adhesive and mix THOROUGHLY.
> Use spatula or brush. Coat evenly and THINLY indicated leather areas of BOTH skived surfaces with Polycol mixture (A+B) (see sketch).
> Allow to air for about 30 min.
> The Polycol mixture (A+B) will begin to harden after 5 h. Close container with plastic lid if process is interrupted.
Step 2
> Use an acid-resistant brush. Coat evenly and THINLY the indicated polyamide area (traction layer) of BOTH skived surfaces with Fixol (see sketch).
> Rub in with brush until Fixol becomes tacky.
> Use spatula or brush. Coat evenly and THINLY indicated leather areas of BOTH skived surfaces with Polycol mixture (A+B) (see sketch).
> Allow to dry for about 10 min.
> The adhesives must exactly cover the prescribed surfaces.
> Close adhesive containers well.
